Elon Musk Plans To LINK Computers With Human Brains

Elon Musk’s new company—Neuralink—aims to create a revolutionary technology that will help link human brains to computers. Musk has taken an active role in developing what he calls the ‘neural lace’ technology, which aims to install small electrodes in the brain to transmit thoughts. Neuralink wants to redefine what future humans will be.

Elon Musk, the mastermind behind SpaceX, Tesla Motors, and Neuralink, plans to link computers with the human brain in JUST four years in order to create a NEW language of ‘consensual telepathy’.

According to Musk, the idea is to create a Matrix-style computer system that can be successfully implanted into human brains in just four years.

Musk believes that ‘neural laces’ can help treat people with severe brain injuries in just four years as the technology needed to achieve the goal is already within our reach.

Tesla’s company—Neuralink—is working on projects that will help connect human brains with a machine interface by creating micron-sized devices.

According to Musk, the successful implementation of a brain-machine interface is a much-needed step that will help mankind compete with ‘god-like’ robots from the future.

Permalink joins a list of companies owned by musk and was created las July. The company is mostly funded by Musk himself. Nerualink will develop a technology that Musk calls ‘neural lace’, which essentially is based on the implantation of extremely small brain electrodes that will allow humans to ‘download’ and ‘upload’ thoughts.

In an interview with Wait But Why, Musk said: “If I were to communicate a concept to you, you would essentially engage in consensual telepathy.”

Neuralink’s main goal is to launch a product that will help people with severe brain injuries as a result of various disorders such as stroke and cancer in just four years said Musk in his latest interview.

But that’s not all. In eight to ten years, the Matrix-style technology would become available to everyone, said Musk.

“There are a bunch of concepts in your head that then your brain has to try to compress into this incredibly low data rate called speech or typing. If you have two brain interfaces, you could actually do an uncompressed direct conceptual communication with another person,” added Musk.

Artificial intelligence and machine learning will create computers so sophisticated and godlike that humans will need to implant “neural laces” in their brains to keep up, Musk said at a tech conference last year.

However, Musk’s new company and plans may come as a surprise to many.

It is well known that Musk—together with Dr. Stephen Hawking—have revealed that one fo the biggest threats to mankind’s existence is precisely Artificial Intelligence, and Musk’s new company seems to be heading that way according to May.

Professor Stephen Hawking said one day, Artificial Intelligence could develop a ‘will of its own,’ becoming one of the greatest threats to humanity. This could result in dangerous and powerful autonomous weapons, as he called out researchers to further study Artificial Intelligence and its possibilities.

“I believe there is no deep difference between what can be achieved by a biological brain and what can be achieved by a computer. It, therefore, follows that computers can, in theory, emulate human intelligence – and exceed it.”

Professor Hawking stated that the potential benefits are great, and such a technological revolution could help mankind undo some of the damage we have done to our planet.
